Instead of striving for "Work-Life Balance," what if we aimed for integration?

Life's greatest beauty is often right in front of our eyes. The aspects of our life that make life beautiful and meaningful are within grasp when we slow down and see them. This is part of what it means to be human.

Going up into our heads and making it about ourselves is what takes us away from being the leaders, fathers, husbands, wives, sons and daughters...that we want to be.

To be present means we are paying attention. We can sense things because we have paused enough to see the fine details. We hear the birds in the trees, notice the whistle of a train in the distance...

Yet, as leaders that are in high demand in multiple areas of life and work... I am confortable in this stage of my life and my career to say that I find the idea of work-life balance to be a myth and impossible to maintain....

These days, I prefer the word integration over balance...
